From humble beginnings in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, Bookerfinch were formed in the spring of 1999. The band comprised twin brothers Paul & Mark Smallwood ,along with ‘baby’ brother Pete  and there adopted soul brother Darren ‘Ramsey’ Humphries.

 Paul Smallwood-Guitars&Vocals

Mark Smallwood-Drums

Pete Smallwood-Keyboards, Vocals & Percussion

Darren Humphries-Bass, Keyboards& Vocals

After a couple of low-key gigs, the band was soon playing alongside established acts like The Doves. They had discovered a sound all of there own blending three part harmonies and their trademark raw acoustic edge.

Following a sustained period of writing new material through 2001, they emerged stronger than ever with a set of new songs. This set of inspired melodies and driving rhythms was unleashed on an ecstatic public in Sheffield & at Birminghams Academy before being  beamed around the world on a  live webcast for onlinetv at a packed gig in London.

'Bookerfinch' put in a strong set of harmony rich pop. Their song
arrangements are a cut above the rest. Reflections of the 'Small Faces' with
the vocal harmony style of 'Crosby Stills Nash and Young'.

(12Bar Club London May2001).

After being chosen from hundreds of unsigned bands to appear on the opening programme of ITV’s music show “The Base” hosted by Emma B, the band went on to be voted ‘band of the series’ and were profiled on the final show.
